A lifelong musician, Laurie is well-versed in all aspects of performance. Although known worldwide as a skilled harpist, she first performed for 17 years as a singer-songwriter and clawhammer banjo player, then toured for 3 years with a band (doing vocals, guitar, banjo, and dulcimer), and later toured for 10 years in duet (playing harp, cittern, and marimba), and another 10 years as a harp soloist.
Laurie founded two accredited therapeutic music certification programs that train musicians for hospital work, and was a charter member of the National Standards Board for Therapeutic Music.
Currently, she does professional consultation in music career development, recording production, performance skill development, and ergonomics. She teaches banjo, guitar, bodhran, and harp, accepting students at all skill levels.
